Thursday morning we went back to Magic Kingdom. It was the same as previously in the week. Crowd levels were low, kids had a blast, parents had a blast, and it was just a fun morning. I wanted both kids to rest that afternoon and for Madelyn to get a really good nap because I knew we would be having a late night. As everyone was leaving about 12:30 I said that they could go back, but I was going to Epcot because I was not leaving Disney World without riding Soarin’. My mom didn’t want me going alone so she rode the monorail over to Epcot with me while my dad and Michael took the kids back to rest.
Soarin’ is the only thing at Epcot that I really wanted to do. I like Spaceship Earth, but it is nothing I would go out of my way to ride. If it is empty and I can walk right on I’ll ride it, if it is busy then I’ll keep moving.
When we got to the Land Pavilion I saw that the wait was 50 minutes. I went straight in to get in line and my mom headed to get lunch. I very peacefully waited in line and ate some goldfish that I had in my book bag because I was starving. I also talked to Clare because we usually talk multiple times a day so it was odd not having talked to her in days. The wait wasn’t that bad, I ended up waiting about 45 minutes to get on what it supposed to be a fabulous ride.
I did like Soarin’, but I don’t think I’d wait that long again. I’m glad I rode it, but it is definitely a fast pass ride. The ride was very realistic, but I’m more of a thrill ride kind of person. I like roller coasters. I like the thrill. Once I got out I found my mom and went to grab lunch. For $12.00 I got a hamburger, fries and coke and it was the nastiest food I’ve ever had in my life. All of the hamburgers had bacon on them. Luckily, I was going to take it off anyway (who really needs all those calories?), but when I did the bacon was raw. After my gourmet lunch, Michael came and picked my mom up and we headed back to the condo.
That night we headed to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness. We drove to the Wilderness Lodge and took the boat over. Both kids loved getting to go on a boat. When we got to the barbecue we were immediately seated and were told to go get some food. I was a little disappointed in our seats. I wanted to be near a dance floor, but you are never sitting anyway so it didn’t matter.
We ate food (it was NASTY, how do you mess us a hotdog?!) and got ready for the party to start. The barbecue is pretty much a hoedown in a pavilion. When Mickey and Minnie came out both kids immediately wanted to go see them. Mickey spotted Madelyn (of course dressed in one of the dresses I had made for her, she only sported monogrammed Disney outfits the entire time we were there) and started dancing with her. She was by far the youngest kid out there. Mickey was super nice. Minnie didn’t have much personality. Goofy and Chip and Dale then came out to other dance floors. Damian went back to eat and Madelyn went to see Goofy. To be such a tiny little person (she is now a whopping 24 pounds fully clothed) she went straight up to him. He was so sweet to her. They were holding hands constantly giving each other high fives. Damian then came out and the kids danced the night away.
We sat down for a minute and were then told that if we wanted to see Mickey and Minnie we could get in line to meet them. There weren’t many people waiting so we got in line. After about ten minutes of waiting it was Damian and Madelyn’s turn. Madelyn immediately ran to Minnie, gave her a high five, and started grabbing her nose saying “Nose! Nose!” Damian couldn’t stop hugging Mickey with the biggest smile on his face. His face was lite up he was so happy. We spent a good eight to ten minutes chatting and taking pictures.
After that we enjoyed the barbecue a little more and my parent’s and Madelyn left to go back to the condo. D, Michael and I went to go find out where to go for our haunted carriage ride. We were very early so we found where we needed to check in and headed to the stable to check out the horses. This is where one of my favorite moments of the entire trip occurred… One horse named Doug was HUGE. I mean bigger than any animal I’ve ever seen. Michael is 6’2 and he wasn’t even near as tall as Doug. Damian was on Michael’s shoulders and I was taking pictures. The first picture everyone is smiling and Doug is in the background. In the second one they are still smiling and Doug is inching closer. In the third one Doug is right behind them and they have no idea. In the fourth one Doug has his head on Michael’s shoulder, but Michael doesn’t realize it and Damian is smiling at Doug. In the last one Michael has a totally shocked look on his face as he realizes this huge horse is resting his head on his shoulder. Doug was a really sweet horse and we really enjoyed checking out the stable.
I spent hours upon hours researching Disney and one day came across the haunted carriage ride. I knew Damian would love it and it didn’t disappoint. We boarded our carriage and took a ride through the Wilderness Lodge hearing the story of the headless horseman. Damian was fascinated and got really into it. At the end there was a man dressed as the Headless Horseman and Damian told me not to be scared. It was so sweet. All of us enjoyed the ride and it is definitely something I want to do again.
We then called my mom to come pick us up. We had no idea it would take up forever to get back to the ticket and transportation center. We boarded the boat and had to wait for the water parade to pass. That is really cool. I loved the dragon. We finally got to my mom where she had been waiting forever.
Day 6 coming soon! We headed to Animal Kingdom (love, love, love that park!) and had a date night at California Grill!
