This morning the Force had their opening game. It went surprisingly very well. When we first pulled up we got out of the car and heard a coach yelling and screaming at his team. It made me a little nervous because I’m the exact opposite. I want the kids to have fun. If someone is constantly yelling and belittling you then the fun is gone. When we got to the field after pictures I went to talk to the other coach and she was just like me, she knew absolutely nothing about soccer. It made for a relaxed and fun game for everyone.
I went out on the field and Crystal (assistant coach) kept time and stayed with the kids on the sidelines. Only three kids play at a time so having a list of who played when definitely made the game go smoothly. When the game started Damian wasn’t sure what to think. He has been told his entire life not to take things from other people and we have had to deter him from having contact with other kids. He was a little timid at first, but slowly got the hang of it. I really think Damian is made for football (the kid is solid, he can knock anyone down), but he did a fantastic job! I’m a really proud mommy and had a fun time coaching. I still don’t know what I’m doing, but our team is having fun and that is all that matters!
